About - Dawn Bacon

I started in nursing before entering podiatry in 1996, and I now work clinically across both the NHS and private practice. I am also involved in research at the University of Southampton.

My main clinical interest focuses on musculo-skeletal pathologies and biomechanical management. This is reflected in my current role in the NHS as Clinical Specialist Practitioner for the Hampshire Orthopaedic Choice service, and indeed in my private sector work, where I am an established biomechanical podiatrist.

It is this interest in podiatric biomechanics, which has led to my joining the Brown Street Practice, where based on an in-depth assessment I will devise a treatment tailored to the patient’s needs. Treatments that often include special prescription insoles (foot orthoses) and a programme of exercises designed to address the specific requirements.
