Orthotics or foot orthoses (insoles)There are many reasons and causes for foot pain. The most important element of treating foot pain is to understand the exact nature of the pain and its underlying causes. Once this has been identified then an effective treatment plan can be devised. For some foot pain treatment will include self help measures such as simple physiotherapy techniques at home as well as footwear and exercise advice. However, in certain cases, the use of insoles and foot orthoses to change the weight distribution in the foot and leg would be recommended. Wherever possible we try and use ‘off the shelf devices’, which are extremely practical and reasonably priced. Occasionally it is necessary to have prescription orthoses which are more costly. The reasons for any individual prescription will always be discussed before treatment is started. Orthoses are specially designed insoles based on our findings that will change the way your foot works by re-directing harmful forces through your gait cycle. This will have a beneficial effect not only within the foot but also throughout the lower limb and spine. |
When we fit orthoses we will undertake a further gait analysis to assess their effectiveness as well as listening to you regarding their comfort. Our individual orthoses are manufactured using the very latest materials and techniques. The othoses are hand crafted in the UK by a highly renowned laboratory who work directly with us to give you extremely accurate, comfortable and stylish devices. Once your orthoses are fitted we will expect to review their usefulness after a set period of time to ensure that you are happy. |
