LADIES PAMPER EVENING

Following the recent Ladies Pamper evening that was held in December 2011 we have recieved the following - "Thank you so much for all of the things that you donated for our pamper evening at the womens refuge. It was a great help to have a selection of nail varnish colours for them to choose from and the creams were popular too. We did feet and hand massages, face packs, and tried our best to do a good job of painting nails. We received an email from the manager saying how much the ladies enjoyed the evening."

TFH TALKS

LOCAL ANAESTHETIC UPDATE COURSE - DEVON BRANCH OCTOBER 2011. PRESENTED BY: LYNDON JONES AND LOUISE ROBBIN

On 22 October 2011 Lyndon Jones and Louise Robbin led a local anaesthetic update for podiatrists working in the Devon area. The course was extremely well attended with 55 podiatrists spending the day updating their knowledge and skills in this very important area. We are pleased to say there were no negative comments in the feedback and the delegates were extremely positive to both of them.
Lyndon and Louise work together at New Hall hospital where they are responsible for undertaking 450 foot operations each year. Of these 95% are under local anaesthetic blocks which means that our patients can go home quickly after surgery, with no anaesthetic reaction. We have found patients complain of less post-operative pain and achieve earlier mobilisation with these techniques, when compared to general anaesthetic. Lyndon is now the most regular user of the operating theatres at New Hall hospital.
When asked about the day he said “It is extremely important that podiatrists maintain their clinical skills and continue to use local anaesthetics on a regular and safe basis. This allows us to offer many different treatment modalities for our patients in a safe and pain free manner. It was a pleasure to talk to so many keen and committed professionals.”
