Surgery under local anaesthetic with sedation

With sedation

For patients choosing the option of surgery under local anaesthetic WITH SEDATION the following applies regarding eating and drinking:

  • FOOD IS PERMITTED TO BE EATEN UP TO 6 HOURS PRIOR TO SURGERY

  • FLUIDS ARE ONLY PERMITTED UP TO 2 HOURS PRIOR TO SURGERY

  • NO ALCOHOL IS PERMITTED FOR 24 HOURS PRIOR TO SURGERY

Surgery under local anaesthetic (without sedation)

Local Anaesthetic only

For patients choosing the option of surgery under a local anaesthetic the following applies:

  • YOU SHOULD EAT A NORMAL BREAKFAST OR A LIGHT LUNCH AT LEAST TWO HOURS BEFORE YOUR SURGERY

  • NO ALCOHOL IS PERMITTED FOR 24 HOURS PRIOR TO SURGERY
